“What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!” (Luke 8:28)
The disciples encounter a demon-possessed man in need of Jesus’ help. The demons inside the man recognized him as the “Son of the Most High God” and his ability to do whatever he wanted with them. It turns out that Jesus was able to deal with them, and the man was healed.
Sooner or later, everyone recognizes Jesus for who he is. We can make the right decision by inviting him into our lives, accepting him as our Lord and Savior. “As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” (Romans 14:11-12)
Prayer: Dear Lord, my prayer goes out to those who do not know of your saving grace. I pray that their hearts and minds will be moved in your direction, recognizing their need for you. Help me to plant a seed of faith in those around me who are in need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
