“I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49)
Jesus left his disciples with power. We don’t read of the coming of this power until Acts 2, but the Spirit who came upon the disciples at Pentecost lives and works through us today. The same access to the Holy Spirit that Jesus had in his earthly life, we now have by our association with him as he reigns in heaven.
Yes, if we have given our hearts to Jesus, we have the Holy Spirit, and as we become more and more aware of it, we know that we can use it. The Spirit moves us to do things we can’t do when we rely on our own strength, and it’s all for the glory of God. Let’s have the Holy Spirit rule in our lives!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, and remind us to not take this for granted, but to use it for the good of your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
