“When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases,  and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.  He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.” (Luke 9:1-3)

When sending out his disciples, two priorities were given (1) knowing the authority Jesus gave them, and (2) leaving behind extra things they didn’t need.  Both of these instructions required them to put a great amount of trust in God.  How would you and I respond?  This and other situations will definitely test our faith!

Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me the ability to trust in you at all times, even in the most difficult times.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
