“Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.” (Luke 8:40-42)
Jairus disregarded his social status and position by begging Jesus for help, acting in ways a leader of the synagogue would never act. He was desperate for Jesus’ help. He knew that Jesus would respond to his plea.
Everyone needs the Lord. There is no need for your background or status to keep you from asking the Lord to intervene in your life. Rich, poor, famous, and unknown can call on the name of the Lord. Isn’t it reassuring to know that we have one God who is the Savior for all mankind? Ask for his help; the Lord is listening.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for listening to me as I reach out to you. There is no one like you, and I know that I can always depend on you. You are the one who everyone needs, and I pray for those who still need you as Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
