“May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

     We were meant to be sanctified, or “set apart” for God’s holy purposes.  It’s something that moves us toward being more Christ-like in our everyday lives.  The more we move toward this, the more we begin to realize our eternal purposes.  We were not meant to lead empty lives, but to be excited and motivated by the love of God.  And when we know how much God loves us, this makes it that much easier to love others, sharing the love of Christ.  Jesus came so that we may experience true joy.  “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) No one can steal our joy from us!

Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank you for making us into the people we were meant to be.  Keep us focused on you and helping others to have the same joy we experience.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
