“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14:13-14)

We are told to pray “in my name.” (Jesus’ name) So, when we pray, are motives should remain selfless and pure.  In another instance, Jesus addresses prayer in this regard: “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (Mark 11:25) Our hearts should be in the right place before God at all times.  This gives us confidence and a perfect peace within, so that whatever the outcome of prayers, nothing “will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:39)

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your unfailing love.  We are at peace with you, and we know that despite the sufferings and hardships we encounter, it is just temporary, and nothing compares to your glory, which lasts forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
