“My brothers and sisters, whenever you face various trials, consider it all joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance complete its work, so that you may be complete and whole, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4)
It is encouraging to know how our trials help strengthen our faith. Many of us feel that experience is the best teacher, telling us that we are wise when we don’t repeat the same mistakes over and over! And through it all, when we let the Lord guide us, through his Spirit and through his word, we gain confidence in everything he teaches us.
Let the words of the prophet Isaiah give you some encouragement: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Prayer: Dear Lord, we face many trials but knowing that you are with us is a reminder that you are supplying us with the faith we need to endure. Thank you for being here with us through all of our challenges. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
