“For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.” (Psalm 139:13-16)
I have heard it said in many different contexts, “God didn’t make no junk!” I have to affirm that belief. The idea is that the life of a person, and the structure and meaning of that person’s life, are all established from the beginning by God.
The problem is that the value of human life has been diminished, quite contrary to the way God would like us to believe. We are all precious in the sight of God, but I truly wonder is everyone sees it that way. Let’s give thanks for the gift of life and pray for all to appreciate it fully:
Prayer: Dear God, you have put all of us here for a purpose. We pray for all to honor and respect the gift of life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
