“The only thing I want to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard?” (Galatians 3:2)

For the Galatians, Paul was wanting to set the record straight.  He could see they were being misled into believing that doing good works was the thing that could save them.  He asked them if they had forgotten about the crucified Christ and the reason he was sacrificed in the first place.

The main thing for us is to remember what Jesus did for us, and to give him all of the credit.  As we accept this truth and internalize it, a second nature develops which compels us to do good works, not out of obligation, but out of love.  God is so good and he does some amazing things in our lives!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for changing my heart and enabling me to serve you because of the fact that you first loved me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
