“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” (James 1:27)
In his writing, James tends to be short and to the point, which is part of why this is my favorite book of the Bible. Our faith is evident through our actions, and if our lifestyle reflects some caring attitudes and actions toward our fellows citizens, along with not conforming to the ways of the world, we are likely to be on the right track.
When we put our faith in Christ, we are directed toward ways which reflect what he desires for out lives. We will not be misguided and there will be no need for confusion. Jesus is the only way, and he is the way which leads to an abundant life.
Prayer: Dear Lord, you always put me in the right direction, and even if I voluntarily steer off course, you gently guide me back to your ways. I am so thankful that you are in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
