“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” (Luke 16:13)

Remember who you are serving.  Remember that all you have comes from God and give thanks.  Consider the things that keep you motivated; is it gaining more wealth or power?  Or is it serving the Lord and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching?

God wants our lives committed to him without compromise.  He calls us to serve him in all that we do.  We can take joy in our everyday tasks, even the seemingly mundane tasks, when we are working for the Lord.  “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

Prayer: Dear Lord, when I stray from you, I feel torn between two worlds.  I know that loving and serving you is the thing that brings about a sense of peace, security, and contentment.  Thank you for the joy you bring me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
