“If I speak in the tongues of humans and of angels but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13:1)
We have God-given abilities to do many good and even great things, but if we are lacking the one ingredient which God asks for us to have, we are missing out. When we act and speak in love, we put away our pride and selfishness. Even if our efforts are not openly recognized by others–God sees it, and it pleases him. Our satisfaction is found in loving God and loving our neighbor as ourself.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your most holy word, which teaches us to put your brand of love above all that we accomplish. Your love reigns forever! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
