“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
Our demeanor is something that can give people either a good or bad impression. If we possess a calm demeanor, we can be more approachable than someone who “flies off the handle” when reacting to anything that upsets them. Granted, there are plenty of things which can upset us, but it is far from necessary to react negatively in every situation.
If we rely on the Holy Spirit of God, we can be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving more often than not. I’m not saying that there are a few things which may still “trigger” us, but with God’s help, we can still learn to be relatively calm. We are all human with human tendencies but having peace within and peace with each other goes a long way in our Christian witness.
Prayer: Dear Lord, draw me close to you throughout the day. Help me to be more like you, possessing the fruits of the Spirit, approaching everyone with kindness and gentleness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
