“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.” (Psalm 98:4)

We are in a season filled with carols, concerts, and celebrations, but the psalmist reminds us that true joy begins not with melody alone, but with the majesty of the one we worship.  All the earth is to give a heartfelt exclamation of praise to the Lord.

Keep in mind that our joyous feelings should not be limited to a season.  Our joy can be felt throughout the year, and it should not be limited to public praise.  In our personal time with the Lord, it can be present, including quieter or even silent praise.  When we know and have accepted God’s love for us, we can always proclaim this.  People will know our joy, even if we don’t shout it out loud.  Our joy is in our expressions and in our demeanor.  When the Spirit of God is within, our joy, spoken or unspoken, is evident.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for this season of joy.  I just ask that my joy would not be limited to this time period or to public praise, but even in the quiet moments.  You have given us a very good reason to know this joy because of all that you have done for us.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
