“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Before we knew why they called it “Good” Friday, we might have wondered why it was so good, considering the cruel and unjust treatment of a totally innocent man. But we have to consider that it was Jesus, the Son of God, having the purpose of paying the price for our sins. His death marked a new beginning for us when we made a decision for Christ, and now he looks down on us from heaven, listens to our prayers, loves us with an unconditional love, and meets our needs on a daily basis. Yes, Good Friday did not seem good at the time, but in a short amount of time, we can see that it is very, very good.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for paying the price for my sins. Now I fully realize how much you love your creation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
