“As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.” (1 John 2:27)

Today is Maundy Thursday, a pivotal moment in Holy Week in which we remember the Lord’s Supper and how Jesus asked us to take part in this sacrament “in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19)

Not only are we asked to take part in this holy observance, but we also want to live according to Jesus’ teachings, relying on the Holy Spirit, remembering him in all that we do.  “Remain in me, as I also remain in you.” (John 15:4) As imitators of Christ, we receive a higher calling, acknowledging the new life we found in him, a changed life, and one which lasts forever.  Let’s claim God’s promises!

Prayer: Dear Lord, you have told us that the Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.  Therefore, we pray for the Holy Spirit to rule in our lives, moving us to abide in you each day.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
