“For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders, and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

It’s Christmas!  We celebrate the birth of Jesus, and we are thankful because he is our Lord and Savior.  We can think of what this means for us in eternity, but we can also think of here and now, and how our Lord impacts our lives every day, including today.

Isaiah referred to some different names we give Jesus. (Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace) Each of the titles are quite appropriate, because Jesus wants to be Lord over all of the areas of our life.  We do not have a God who just watches us from a distance; he’s right here with us, and we can choose to welcome him into our lives!

Prayer: Dear Lord, today we experience the joy of Christmas, and help us to put you at the center of this celebration.  Thank you for coming into the world and changing it forever.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Blessings and Merry Christmas,

Pastor Dave
