“I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)
Thinking back to the time when we gave our hearts over to the Lord, he has been working on us and moving us towards being more like him. We can’t ignore the times when we are told to think differently, to straighten out our attitude concerning our faith and how it affects us and everyone around us.
Sometimes it seems like very little progress is being made. There are times when I feel like the same person I was years ago. Then I look at the other person and think, “He or she is so mature in their faith; I’ll never be like them.” Can any of you relate to this?
Yet, I know there are some things that have changed. I am less likely to judge someone, less likely to react in anger when I feel that I’ve been wronged, and more willing to give of my time and resources to those in need.
Think about the good work that has been started in you. God isn’t done with us yet!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for accepting us as we are. Your good work in us continues, and we welcome it and all of the joy and even the challenges it brings. We must also thank you for your patience with us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
