“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Paul speaks of having confidence in God, knowing of an eternal security we have when we give our lives to Christ.  When we commit ourselves to Jesus, we should not fear the future.  The Bible tells us about not being afraid in over 300 scripture passages.

Sometimes I wish that I knew the future—what is going to happen concerning different areas in my life, yet I’m really not supposed to know, with one exception.  I know that God has and always will have a handle on my life.  He has done so in the past, and I know that for the future, he will not let me down.  God can carry us through our troubles and our sorrow—those things are inevitable, but we are given a higher calling.  We are asked to call on the name of the Lord. “I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.” (Psalm 116:13)

Prayer: Dear Lord, we know that we should not be consumed by fear.  You have given us the ability to put our confidence in you.  Grant us the wisdom to cast out our fears and to have full knowledge of your love for us.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
